Day 3 – 7: At Tsavo East

You will spend the next five days searching for some of the world’s largest elephants including ‘The Hundred Pounder Tuskers’, a name that refers to elephants with tusks that weigh in excess of one hundred pounds on each side. There are twelve large Bull elephants that fit this description who roam freely in this vast wilderness the size of Wales, while being closely monitored for protection from poachers by the KWS and Tsavo Trust personnel. We hope to get lucky by finding one of the “Giants” and to be one of the privileged few to photograph these majestic beasts walking the game trails with their tusks almost reaching the ground. All meals and overnight will be at Satao Camp (Full Board).

Day 8: Tsavo East – Amboseli

You will depart from your camp after breakfast and drive to Amboseli National Park. You will stop for a picnic lunch and proceed to your lodge to arrive in the mid afternoon. The lodge is situated right in the heart of Amboseli National Park, which allows quick and easy access to the animals and all the other attractions. The afternoon will be spent exploring and photographing the wildlife in the park, returning to your lodge in time for dinner. Overnight will be at Ol Tukai Lodge (Full Board).

Day 9 – 11: At Amboseli

You will spend the next three days doing game drives in Amboseli National Park. The park is an area of about 392 km2, and boasts a plethora of fauna and flora. Animals that are commonly seen here are elephant, buffalo, impala, lion, cheetah, hyena, giraffes, zebra and wildebeest. The elephants can be viewed and photographed easily due to the flat terrain of the seasonal lakebed that they frequently have to cross to access the lush papyrus swamps for food and water. They are also considered to be amongst the largest in East Africa. Amboseli is probably most famous for being the one place in Africa where you can photograph these giant pachyderms against the unique backdrop of Mt. Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa and the tallest free-standing mountain in the world. Dinner and overnight will be at Ol Tukai Lodge (Full Board).
